The archaeological site of Saint-Romain-en-Gal
At the heart of a 4-hectare natural park, the archaeological site of Saint-Romain-en-Gal with its museum is one of the largest spaces devoted to Gallo-Roman civilization in France. Old Lyon

An ancient Gallo-Roman city, Vienne in Isère is full of treasures
30 km south of Lyon (Rhône), the city of Vienne, in Isère, is an ancient Gallo-Roman city. Like today, it had a population of 30,000 at the time. Vienne was the capital of a commercial province open to trade thanks to the river, the Rhône. Traces of this history dating back 2,000 years remain in the town centre, such as the temple dedicated to Emperor Augustus, the ancient theatre, the forum of Cybèle, the Saint André le Bas cloister, the Saint-Maurice cathedral.
